You will walk in victory and show others how to do so in Jesus Name! I am trapped in bulimia. I have been to treatment centers, therapists, and Christian groups and counselors.

I am a Christian and I really try to live for the Lord because I am so thankful to be forgiven. It feels like a stronghold over me that never goes away no matter how hard I try or pray.

Then it starts over. I am so sorry that you have this strong hold in your life. It takes the very power of God to overcome this.

I am glad you did write. Have you talked with you rpastor about this? Have you spoken with your doctor over this?

Aside from this, we have an article that addresses overcoming strong addictions like you have. The links to the articles are below and I urge you to follow the strategies that are laid out in these and follow them as closely as possible.

They give direct applications that you can use and Bible verses to support your attempt to overcome this addiction.

None of us can overcome sin on our own but God is shown mighty when we are weak but He can do all things in us by His Spirit.

I am going to look into these articles. I appreciate you and Ray commenting back so quickly. God bless you guys and blessings over your very wonderful ministries!

I speak healing over you Kris, healing from over eating and bulimia…God is your strength, he loves you so much and since you already believe in Him , believe that he hears your prayers, and thank him that your answer is coming…A fast and prayer is necessary to break these problems..

But know this Kris, some will disagree.. In Gods word, the deciples couldnt cast out a demon, and Jesus said this comes out by fasting and prayer…Paula White ministries has a lot of teaching on fasting..

She is on youtube, look up paula white on your tube for this teaching it is great…And start declaring out loud normal tone I am healed , I am blessed..

What this scripture means is that: I have done this and this works.. There are forces out there, that will tell you, you cant do this, dont listen to those forces..

Seek prayer from your church and other believers…I will put this on my prayer list…Believe Kris that you will be healed…God Bless. I need to start going this, even when I fail and slip up.

This is a real battle, literally.. And I am going to have start fighting with faith and the sword word of God. However, I am going to try and I will pray constantly.

The bold in Christ are better off dead as far as Satan is concerned. Again, thank you for your prayers and exhortation: I also thank you Ray.

I think there is much wisdom in what you wrote Kris. It IS a spiritual battle that is going on and that yes, a believer in Christ can not be demon possessed but they can surely be spiritually attacked, especially when a Christian is growing, when they are actively proclaiming the gospel to the lost…AND when they are trying to overcome a major sin or addiction in their life.

We have an article I hate to keep putting up our own works that is full of biblical Scriptures and advice on how a Christian can be better equipped when dealing with spiritual warfare at the link below.

I will joy Ray in prayers for you Kris. Keep us informed on how its going so we can praise God for your answer to this prayer in fighting this spiritual battle.

I agree that we cant be possessed but definitely oppressed…I thankyou for the blessed words.. I know for me I havent been as close to God as I have recently within the past few years, more prayer and being part of a prayer group..

I have lifted Kris up in prayer with my prayer group, now for you Kris to start thankyou God for his deliverance is important.. God said we can have what we pray for because we believe we have what we ask for in prayer.

I am not kidding when I say that writing on this random site I found was a divine appointment. It finally clicked with me to quit being a punching bag for the devil.

It finally did with me. I threw up 3 times today. But I am not going to be a defeated spirit anymore. Greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world.

I will post again after a week and let you know what is happening: No weapon formed against me shall prosper in Jesus name. When this is conquered I will proclaim the way to all of the women and men who suffer with eating disorders.

It has become an easy target for Satan with all genders and ages. God has used you today on the first day of Add me on Facebook: Kristy griffin Wallace in Phoenix, AZ.

To Jack and Ray, finding this site and righting to you changed my life! My last reply on here was on January 1, Please read it again… I have had total victory over bulimia for almost 6 months!

I would pray and speak the word of God with fear and tears, and nothing would happen. When I started speaking his word with boldness and faith, my life began to change!

I am believe, twice over: People really need to grasp this. I keep scriptures with me when I feel an attack coming on.

It truly is a sword to defeat with. So thank you, thank you, for letting God use you two in giving me this epiphany that I needed to be an overcomer!

And I pray that everyone that reads this will get out their swords, join the battle, and see that the victory had been ours all along through Jesus Christ… We just needed to believe it and declare it: Satan is our enemy yes, but Jesus never said nor does the Bible ever indicate that we should be praying for Satan since he is determined to never repent and neither can he be saved again.

Jesus said that Satan has been judged already in John Satan can not come to salvation, nor the demons. Their goal is to rip away from God his loved creation as much as they can..

So it is perfectly okay to hate that: Put on the armour of God everyday: Thanks guys ever so much! I would also love to know weather Illuminati are real, because hearing that all of my favourite singers are following this organization in which you worship Satan.

Maria, I hope you are doing well.. If you do research on the Illuminati, you will find, these people are the rich elite.

Youtube has information about the Illuminati, there is alot of deception out there. Maria, since Adam and Eve, Satan has tried to deceive all..

Satan will try to deceive others also.. Prayer is your best protection. A relationship with God is the best one can have. Churches that teach John 3: The bible is truth…I urge you to stay vigilant in prayer and having that relationship with Jesus..

With all the deception out there, if not prayed up, it could be easier for one to walk away from the faith…Reading the bible is very important…Its my prayer, that God will reveal himself to you.

I know we all like celebrities, but they are just human like we are…Jesus is the real thing…. Personally, I believe Greed is the root of all sin.

It also covers the other 6 deadly sins. What is to know right from wrong… I believe that you know right and you do it. You know wrong and you do it anyways.

Thank you again for this good articles on your website. Do you have copies sold in Amazon? Your teachings based from Proverbs?

You are much to kind to me than I deserve. My teachings are not really based upon the book of Proverbs with the exception of this article but we do have books that I and another author sell on this link:.

Thank you for your visit here. It is not often that we get someone as kind as you are. May God richly bless you for that.

Was she not free of sin? No, Mary is human and the Bible clearly says this:. Are we better than they? The Bible clearly teaches that all people have sinned — except Jesus 1 Peter 2: All means all, including Mary.

This is not my opinion. What I believe is not important. What the Bible says is fully truthful. I always find it interesting to see that religion is very good at pointing out and labeling sins yet when it comes time for a person to feel the pain that result from the seeds they sow, the church is there to act as enabler comforting and bailing out the sinner.

I believe if they were allowed to feel the pain from their sins this would help them change their wicked ways. What is your opinion about the church acting as enabler for the sinner….

Thank you Jeff for your comment. God forgives us, I would tell them, but the consequences of sin still remain. That is I knew a man who cheated on his wife and asked for her forgiveness, which she graciously gave.

Even so, the woman who he committed adulter with became pregnant and then he had to have a court-ordered support for the baby and the mother.

I agree that we should not enable a sinner to keep on sinning. Choose to sin…choose to suffer. Does this make sense sir? Thank you for your honest and accurate observations.

Because now if they were born like that how can they fight it? Thank you for visiting us and for your comment and question. A person can still feel same-sex urges and be saved.

Just as I was at one time a drug abuser, I still have those urges to do them again. Let me say that all humans are born into sin and that is no excuse to God.

We must all repent and confess our sins, turn to God and put our trust in Christ. No one is forcing a homosexual to live like that.

We all sin and fall short but we all must repent too. We are born into sin and how can we fight that? By trusting in Christ and repenting.

If we sin, we have already acted on it. Thank you Carlos for your question. This comes up frequently. Job lost all his family, his crops, his livestock, his home, and his health…yet he was seen by God as a good man.

Please check out the link below to find out why this happens. Someday God will have justice served, but for today, its a fallen world and our suffering has a purpose.

And just curious does good have someone that you are destinted to be together foever? Thanks Carlos for your questions sir. As for if we will know our family and friends when we are in heaven, yes.

We have an article about this at:. The best place to meet a godly woman are in Bible-believing churches. I hope you find your godly wife my friend.

All the responses here is a very good read for striving christians like myself. Recently god transfered me to a job where im surrounded by nonsmoking coworkers thank God!

My only dilemma now is my sin of lust. Please pray for me pastor that i may overcome these sins and continue to delight in Him always!

Jason, I can see how you are hungering and thirsting for righteousness. I am encouraged my friend. I will pray for you sir.

We can do all things thru Christ Who Himself with strengthen you my friend. My friend…the very thing you need to do is pray and fast and perhaps this will help break this stronghold.

Stray, single, solitary Christians are easy prey for the Devil who roams about seeking whom he may devour and so I recommend you talk to your pastor today.

You will never get help unless you read your Bible daily. Start with John and then 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John for immediate help.

Is it possible that if you lived like this for most of your life do think it could come back to haunt you in the future.

Yes, our past life and sins can be felt in our later life. When we choose to sin we choose to suffer, but remember that every one of us still makes bad choices and sin but there is always forgiveness of all of our sins, no matter how bad they are 1 John 1: Thank you for your question.

There is no least favorite sin to me my friend…all sin is cosmic treason against a Holy God. Some sins may be more serious in some ways.

Certainly pride is at the root of all sin and is sin in itself. As Paul wrote in 1 Cor 6: Every sin that a man does is without the body; but he that commits fornication sins against his own body.

For you are bought with a price: We all should have loving hearts. Jesus said love your neighbors as he loved us. Which means not keeping anger that of what someone did to you, but letting it go.

It is kind of like lying, but worse. In a vast majority of cases, nations and people fall due to pride. As of today I am giving up all myself to God.

I know what is right and what is wrong but still, most I do is wrong. Please help me to overcome this lustful things that come to me.

I want to help others to know God and follow His will. But I cannot because me myself is a sinner. Most of the time I LIE.

For me to look good. Thank you for your comment. Please my friend, do not lose heart. We are all sinners 1 John 1: So, is it a sin to be gay?

I have read many different opinions and I ask yours. I am an open christian, but also am gay. I have been removed from churches for my entire life.

It has hurt but they believe it is my punishment from god. If it is a punishment, Will I be forgiven at the gates?

Or shall I be taken down by saint Micheal for the sins I have caused? I have only ever had one partner and not given in to the devils call.

Shall I be punished for being born differently? Or is the Bible wrong in telling me I cannot lie with my sex?

Thank you for your questions. The Bible is never wrong…. We are no better than homosexuals. I have found this article to be very helpful.

The comment section is also informative. I wanted to chime in on the homosexual accounts and say that from the ages of I lived as a lesbian but as of four years ago, I had a complete turn around.

I now believe that it is societal influence that causes this. The funny thing is that now that people know my history and that I am the polar opposite in my thinking regarding homosexuality, I get comments from people that accuse me of being a closet lesbian because I am self sufficient in so many areas.

How great is your faith! You are right, I believe society does promote or push that onto individuals. God helped you and me too and without Him, we could do nothing.

May God richly bless you Rachel and I thank God for you. Yes, JoyNkem, the one who devises or plans wicked things is clearing sinning. Because any one who causes a person to sin is just as guilty as doing the sin themselves for they caused them to sin which God hates.

Religion leaves no hope because it is mans efforts to redeem himself on the other hand faith in the word will enable you to overcome any sin that keeps you from living a victorus life.

I recently suffered a horrible bout with kidney stones. Horrible pain unimagable to someone who has never been there.

My faith helped me ride the waves of horrow until I was safe on the other side. Beloved, think it not strange concerning the firey trials that shall try you …As I was sliding down the razor blade of pain what I could not do in my self He did by faith.

Now I rejoice because as I look back I can rejoice and am exceedingly glad. It has made me more determine to rid myself of any sin that might offend my lord and savior.

Thank you so much Chris for your question. I believe that a cure for narcissism and procrastination is to set your alarm earlier and start the day with prayer and Bible study and end the day as such.

Also, get a planner and stick to it. As for narcissism, be more of a servant in your church, serve those who are in need, volunteer for a Sunday school sub position or to start a Bible study in your own home, get out and share the gospel with others, start a nursing home ministry, and so forth.

Talk to your pastor and I am sure he could give you much better advice than I can sir. I really want to understand this. Thanks for your very good question my friend.

The reason Jesus had to die for our sins was so that we could be forgiven and go to be with the Lord. Jesus is God in flesh John 1: All people have sinned against God.

But, God is infinitely holy and righteous. He must punish the sinner, the Law- breaker. The punishment for breaking the Law is death, separation from God.

Therefore, we sinners need a way to escape the righteous judgment of God. Since we are stained by sin and cannot keep the Law of God, then the only one who could do what we cannot is God Himself.

That is why Jesus is God in flesh. He is both divine and human. He was made under the Law Gal. Therefore, His sacrifice to God the Father on our behalf is of infinite value and is sufficient to cleanse all people from their sins and undo the offense to God.

The following outline is an attempt to break this down, step by step, using scripture and logic. I hope that it helps you understand why God is our savior and not some created thing.

Also, I hope that it helps you understand that you must trust in Christ alone for the forgiveness of your sins; that you can do nothing on your own to merit salvation from God.

I am guilty of all of these at one time or another…. It all starts with being prideful. These 7 deadly sins are everywhere in this world.

This is scary but intrigues me at the same time. I need to know more…. God, forgive me for my sins, I am so ashamed. Please make me humble and lead me to follow your ways.

I pray this in Jesus name, Amen. Thank you Reneeb for your open honesty and let me say that we are all guilty and at best, total wretches but the good thing is that you have humbled yourself, admitted these sins, and confessed them to God.

May God richly bless you my friend. I sti had lied, and did mischievous things. But I soon later on in my years around 10 started sinning a lot more..

I fell short of the glory of God with lust. I knew it was wrong but the temptation was strong. Later on in my years in 5th grade it felt as if a need to be in my life.

My parents soon found out and my stepdad had a talk with me. I quit looking at pornography. Though I was still sinning like everyone else.

When I hit 6th grade. I was trying to be as pure as I could be but I could not rid of sin like any other person. I got back into it and then I quit.

I began a relationship with I think to be the love of my life. It may arise from any of the other capital vices; for example, a son may omit his duty to his father through anger.

While the state and habit of sloth is a mortal sin, the habit of the soul tending towards the last mortal state of sloth is not mortal in and of itself except under certain circumstances.

Emotionally and cognitively, the evil of acedia finds expression in a lack of any feeling for the world, for the people in it, or for the self.

Acedia takes form as an alienation of the sentient self first from the world and then from itself. Although the most profound versions of this condition are found in a withdrawal from all forms of participation in or care for others or oneself, a lesser but more noisome element was also noted by theologians.

From tristitia , asserted Gregory the Great, "there arise malice, rancour, cowardice, [and] despair Sloth not only subverts the livelihood of the body, taking no care for its day-to-day provisions, but also slows down the mind, halting its attention to matters of great importance.

In his Purgatorio Dante portrayed the penance for acedia as running continuously at top speed. Some scholars [ who? Wrath Latin, ira can be defined as uncontrolled feelings of anger , rage , and even hatred.

Wrath often reveals itself in the wish to seek vengeance. Wrath may persist long after the person who did another a grievous wrong is dead.

Feelings of wrath can manifest in different ways, including impatience , hateful misanthropy , revenge , and self-destructive behavior , such as drug abuse or suicide.

People feel angry when they sense that they or someone they care about has been offended, when they are certain about the nature and cause of the angering event, when they are certain someone else is responsible, and when they feel they can still influence the situation or cope with it.

In her introduction to Purgatory, Dorothy L. Sayers describes wrath as "love of justice perverted to revenge and spite ".

In accordance with Henry Edward, angry people are "slaves to themselves". Envy Latin, invidia , like greed and lust, is characterized by an insatiable desire.

It can be described as a sad or resentful covetousness towards the traits or possessions of someone else. It arises from vainglory , [35] and severs a man from his neighbor.

A difference is that the envious also desire the entity and covet it. Envy can be directly related to the Ten Commandments , specifically, "Neither shall you covet Dante defined envy as "a desire to deprive other men of theirs".

Thomas Aquinas, the struggle aroused by envy has three stages: In accordance with the most widely accepted views, only pride weighs down the soul more than envy among the capital sins.

Just like pride, envy has been associated directly with the devil, for Wisdom 2: Pride Latin, superbia is considered, on almost every list, the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins: It is also thought to be the source of the other capital sins.

Lewis writes, in Mere Christianity , that pride is the "anti-God" state, the position in which the ego and the self are directly opposed to God: Pride leads to every other vice: One can be prideful for different reasons.

Author Ichabod Spencer states that "[s]piritual pride is the worst kind of pride, if not worst snare of the devil. The heart is particularly deceitful on this one thing.

In Ancient Athens, hubris was considered one of the greatest crimes and was used to refer to insolent contempt that can cause one to use violence to shame the victim.

This sense of hubris could also characterize rape. The term has been used to analyse and make sense of the actions of contemporary heads of government by Ian Kershaw , Peter Beinart and in a much more physiological manner by David Owen In this context the term has been used to describe how certain leaders, when put to positions of immense power, seem to become irrationally self-confident in their own abilities, increasingly reluctant to listen to the advice of others and progressively more impulsive in their actions.

Pride is associated with more intra-individual negative outcomes and is commonly related to expressions of aggression and hostility Tangney, As one might expect, pride is not always associated with high self-esteem but with highly fluctuating or variable self-esteem.

Excessive feelings of pride have a tendency to create conflict and sometimes terminating close relationships, which has led it to be understood as one of the few emotions with no clear positive or adaptive functions Rhodwalt, et al.

Pride is generally associated with an absence of humility. John Gay states that "By ignorance is pride increased; They most assume who know the least.

He changes good things into evil, he lays his traps. Just as a spark sets coals on fire, the wicked man prepares his snares in order to draw blood.

Beware of the wicked man for he is planning evil. He might dishonor you forever. Benjamin Franklin said "In reality there is, perhaps no one of our natural passions so hard to subdue as pride.

Disguise it, struggle with it, stifle it, mortify it as much as one pleases, it is still alive and will every now and then peep out and show itself; you will see it, perhaps, often in this history.

For even if I could conceive that I had completely overcome it, I should probably be proud of my humility.

The proverb "pride goeth goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall" from the biblical Book of Proverbs , Pride is also referred to as "pride that blinds," as it often causes a committer of pride to act in foolish ways that belie common sense.

Much of the 10th and part of 11th chapter of the Book of Sirach discusses and advises about pride, hubris, and who is rationally worthy of honor.

Do not store up resentment against your neighbor, no matter what his offence; do nothing in a fit of anger. Pride is odious to both God and man; injustice is abhorrent to both of them.

Sovereignty is forced from one nation to another because of injustice, violence, and wealth. How can there be such pride in someone who is nothing but dust and ashes?

Once a man is dead, grubs, insects, and worms are his lot. The beginning of pride is sin. Whoever perseveres in sinning opens the floodgates to everything that is evil.

For this the Lord has inflicted dire punishment on sinners; he has reduced them to nothing. The Lord has overturned the thrones of princes and set up the meek in their place.

The Lord has torn up the proud by their roots and has planted the humble in their place. The Lord has overturned the land of pagans and totally destroyed them.

He has devastated several of them, destroyed them and removed all remembrance of them from the face of the earth. Pride was not created for man, nor violent anger for those born of woman.

Which race is worthy of honor? Those who are good. Which race is despicable? Those who break the commandments. The leader is worthy of respect in the midst of his brethren, but he has respect for those who are good.

Whether, they be rich, honored or poor, their pride should be in being good. It is not right to despise the poor man who keeps the law; it is not fitting to honor the sinful man.

The leader, the judge, and the powerful man are worthy of honor, but no one is greater than the man who is good. A prudent slave will have free men as servants, and the sensible man will not complain.

Do not feel proud when you accomplished your work; do not put on airs when times are difficult for you. Of greater worth is the man who works and lives in abundance than the one who shows off and yet has nothing to live on.

My son, have a modest appreciation of yourself, estimate yourself at your true value. Who will defend the man who takes his own life?

Who will respect the man who despises himself? The poor man will be honored for his wisdom and the rich man, for his riches.

Honored when poor-how much more honored when rich! Dishonored when rich-how much more dishonored when poor! The poor man who is intelligent carries his head high and sits among the great.

Do not praise a man because he is handsome and do not hold a man in contempt because of his appearance. The bee is one of the smallest winged insects but she excels in the exquisite sweetness of her honey.

Do not be irrationally proud just because of the clothes you wear; do not be proud when people honor you. Do you know what the Lord is planning in a mysterious way?

Many tyrants have been overthrown and someone unknown has received the crown. Many powerful men have been disgraced and famous men handed over to the power of others.

Do not reprehend anyone unless you have been first fully informed, consider the case first and thereafter make your reproach. Do not reply before you have listened; do not meddle in the disputes of sinners.

My child, do not undertake too many activities. If you keep adding to them, you will not be without reproach; if you run after them, you will not succeed nor will you ever be free, although you try to escape.

It is translated to apathetic listlessness; depression without joy. It is related to melancholy: In early Christian thought, the lack of joy was regarded as a willful refusal to enjoy the goodness of God; by contrast, apathy was considered a refusal to help others in time of need.

Pope Gregory combined this with tristitia into sloth for his list. When Thomas Aquinas described acedia in his interpretation of the list, he described it as an uneasiness of the mind , being a progenitor for lesser sins such as restlessness and instability.

Acedia is currently defined in the Catechism of the Catholic Church as spiritual sloth, which would be believing spiritual tasks to be too difficult.

In the fourth century, Christian monks believed acedia was not primarily caused by laziness, but by a state of depression that caused spiritual detachment.

Vainglory Latin, vanagloria is unjustified boasting. Pope Gregory viewed it as a form of pride, so he folded vainglory into pride for his listing of sins.

The Latin term gloria roughly means boasting , although its English cognate — glory — has come to have an exclusively positive meaning; historically, the term vain roughly meant futile a meaning retained in the modern expression "in vain" , but by the 14th century had come to have the strong narcissistic undertones, that it still retains today.

With Christianity , historic Christian denominations such as the Catholic Church and Protestant Churches, [55] including the Lutheran Church , [56] recognize seven virtues , which correspond inversely to each of the seven deadly sins.

Confession is the act of admitting the commission of a sin to a priest, who in turn will forgive the person in the name in the person of Christ, give a penance to partially make up for the offense, and advise the person on what he or she should do afterwards.

According to a study by Fr. Roberto Busa , a Jesuit scholar, the most common deadly sin confessed by men is lust, and by women, pride.

The most serious sins, found at the lowest level, are the abuses of the most divine faculty. Abusing that faculty with pride or envy weighs down the soul the most though abuse is gluttonous.

This is still an abuse that weighs down the soul, but it does not weigh it down like other abuses. Thus, the top levels of the Mountain of Purgatory have the top listed sins, while the lowest levels have the more serious sins of wrath, envy, and pride.

This sermon brings together many common ideas and images about the seven deadly sins. The Dutch artist Pieter Bruegel the Elder created a series of prints showing each of the seven deadly sins.

Each print features a central, labeled image that represents the sin. Around the figure are images that show the distortions, degenerations, and destructions caused by the sin.

Lucifera, the lady of the house, is accompanied by advisers who represent the other seven deadly sins.

Greed Latin, avaritia , also known as avarice, cupidity , or covetousness , is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of desire.

However, greed as seen by the Church is applied to an artificial, rapacious desire and pursuit of material possessions. Thomas Aquinas wrote, "Greed is a sin against God, just as all mortal sins, in as much as man condemns things eternal for the sake of temporal things.

Hoarding of materials or objects, theft and robbery , especially by means of violence , trickery , or manipulation of authority are all actions that may be inspired by Greed.

Such misdeeds can include simony , where one attempts to purchase or sell sacraments , including Holy Orders and, therefore, positions of authority in the Church hierarchy.

In the words of Henry Edward, avarice "plunges a man deep into the mire of this world, so that he makes it to be his god.

As defined outside Christian writings, greed is an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs, especially with respect to material wealth.

Sloth Latin, tristitia or acedia "without care" refers to a peculiar jumble of notions, dating from antiquity and including mental, spiritual, pathological, and physical states.

The scope of sloth is wide. Mentally, acedia has a number of distinctive components of which the most important is affectlessness, a lack of any feeling about self or other, a mind-state that gives rise to boredom, rancor, apathy, and a passive inert or sluggish mentation.

Physically, acedia is fundamentally associated with a cessation of motion and an indifference to work; it finds expression in laziness , idleness, and indolence.

Sloth has also been defined as a failure to do things that one should do. By this definition, evil exists when "good" people fail to act.

When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle. Unlike the other capital sins, which are sins of committing immorality, sloth is a sin of omitting responsibilities.

They are full of the first sin ever recorded, before mankind was even created: So I threw you to the earth.

He was cast down and became known as Satan, which in Hebrew means adversary and ha-Satan, the accuser. Today, Satan is said to accuse the brethren the church before the throne of God day and night Rev.

Haughty eyes are eyes full of pride and pride is actually at the root of all sin. That is why it is listed first because pride is first and foremost inherent in all sin.

Haughty eyes are eyes that look condescendingly on people. They look at others as inferior in an arrogant way and see themselves as superior to all others.

This is why God hates it. This is exactly what happened to Satan and what still happens to humans who boast, brag, and are arrogant. God detests a lying tongue and in fact, all liars are destined to be cast into the lake of fire in the Second Death Rev.

This is the final place for the Devil and all his fallen angels demons. This place is a place of unending, eternal torment. Again, we go back to the first and foremost detestable thing that God hates: When we lie, we are wanting to make ourselves look good, make excuses for our not doing the right thing, we often accuse others of something that they did not do — all in order to make us look better.

The root cause of lying and actually all sin is pride. We deceive others but we do not deceive God who searches the heart and knows our evil intent 1 Kings 8: They are either lying or not.

Lying hurts the person who is telling the lie but it also hurts others as Proverbs Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.

The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing.

One great example was the blood that was shed of Jesus Christ. The spotless, sinless, perfect Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, was slain by guilty hands.

He was completely innocent but those who shed His blood were completely guilty and sinful. To me, abortion is the shedding of innocent blood.

A child is inside the womb of a woman and defenseless — completely innocent, yet 42 million abortions are performed every year in this world and 1.

This is nothing short of genocide since God knew us even before we were born and knew us by name in the womb Jer 1: Today shedding innocent blood can involve burglaries gone bad, murders, inducing others to buy and get hooked on drugs, influencing others to drink and then to drive , drunk drivers killing innocent victims, spousal abuse and murder, and the list goes on.

Jesus said that we commit murder in our heart if we hate someone Matt 5: Truly no human is innocent before God but by God saying that He abhors those who shed innocent blood He means that criminals and everyday people shed the blood of others who did not deserve to die.

God alone is the author and giver of life and only He has the right to take a life. Here again, pride is a root cause of murder.

You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When a person has committed murder, involuntary manslaughter is usually a lesser of a charge that premeditated murder.

The meaning of premeditated is that the murderer planned and schemed well ahead of time before they committed the act. They predetermined ahead of time to kill someone so a person a hand that devises plans ahead of time wicked evil schemes predetermining is a person that God hates.

King David was such a man and God used Nathan to point this evil out to David. David did repent Psalm 51 but David schemed ahead of time about how to get rid of Uriah so that he could marry Bathsheba who was already pregnant by David in an adulterous affair.

Sadly, King David gives Uriah orders for his commander of the army, Joab. David paid dearly for this, losing his son and his marriage and family would forever be facing insurrection, family scheming, turmoil, and eventually the death of his older son Absalom.

Anyone that plans ahead of time to do evil is a hand that devises wicked schemes. Anyone that plans ahead of time to do harm or evil to someone is a person that God is personally opposed to and everyone someday will give an account for every evil deed they do in their lifetime Matt This is a person that easily agrees to take part in an evil deed with others or to make a quick decision to do something harmful to another person.

If their feet are quick to run into evil, they are already predisposed, or already of a mind to want to rob, murder, hurt, lie, or cheat others.

They instantly run to do something where they see an easy opportunity. They rush ahead, not even thinking of the consequences, so they are likely not a Christian and they have no conviction from the Holy Spirit about thinking twice about it.

Their only goal is easy money or an easy target. The human heart, without the Holy Spirit, is desperately wicked and thinks nothing of jumping at the chance to do something wrong Jer Once again, we go back to the root of all sin: A prideful person is quick to lie about others in order to make themselves look better.

If they accuse others falsely, they can blame others for something they did or something that they should have done. I have heard this occur many times in the workplace.

Some will constantly be blaming others at work for their own lack of responsibility. When things go wrong, they are always quick to point the finger.

It is what one co-worker of mine said: They fail to shoulder the blame for something that they should have done or actually did do in order to accuse an innocent person who is not present to defend themselves.

This type of behavior is extremely harmful for company morale and lowers the dignity of fellow human beings. A false witness will lie in court, perhaps even at the risk of perjury, just to get out of a crime that they committed, while assessing the blame on an innocent party.

Lies catch up with a person because they have to speak other lies to cover up the first one and many times they become so entrapped by their many lies that they become like a fly ensnared in a web.

Their web gets so tangled up with their many lies that they often forget them all and it comes back to hurt them. This last but not least sin is one that has divided many churches.

Gossip is one way to stir up conflict and divide even the closest of friends. A person who stirs up this conflict is like a person who throws gas on a fire that others are trying to put out.

Its like dragging up old issues that might have been resolved but a person stirs up the issue over and over again.

When they are constantly stirring it up, like coals of a fire, it becomes hotter and hotter, and eventually erupts into a bonfire.

The person who is continually stirring up conflict is also a person who is full of pride. They want others to have conflict so that they are considered to be a person above reproach.

They might say that at least they are not having conflict but in reality, they are doing nothing to settle it but doing everything to increase it.

Paul had many problems with the churches in this area and a person who stirred up conflicts would have been disfellowshipped because they are dividing the church — the Body of Christ — and this is a serious sin to Jesus Who is the Head of the church.

It only takes a small amount of stirring to get a fire started again and Paul had no small conflicts going on in the Corinthian church due to conflict.

When there is division in the church as there was in the Corinthian church 1 Cor 12, 13 , then the cause of Christ and His witness is hurt and God will not leave those who are responsible without discipline.

Again, this sin is rooted in pride because no one gossips to help another or stirs up conflict to make others look good. When we stir up conflict, we want to make ourselves look better in comparison.

Jesus is the Head of the church and He will not allow the leavening of sin to permeate through the church to do the Bride of Christ harm. May it not even be named among those of the children of God.

Thanks for stopping by! We all need this cleansing because we are not sinless 1 John 1: You can rest assured in that fact, for God can not lie.

Lisa, read 1 John 1: Yes, He will when we confess them to Him. No church saves anyone, only Christ forgives Acts 4: I have sinned a lot and the are most especially the deadly sin, there is one particular sin that traps me always which is the sin of adultery and anger.

We all sin but we can all ask for forgiveness and be forgiven and cleansed from ALL our sin 1 John 1: Talk to your pastor, read your Bible daily, pray as much as possible and renew your mind with the Word of God, the Bible Rom Is the world really going to end?

Is the mayon calander a real thing? Is it ture that we might live because the mayons did incorrperate leap year? Please read this article at the link provided about the Mayan Myth and I think it will answer all your question as it is not going to end the world on the date of Dec 21, I have made a sinful life.

I try and change for the better, not only my actions, but to get back in touch with God. I am not christian nor any type of religion do i claim. But I know whats good or bad, right from wrong.

You can be forgiven and thats what I ask for. Thanks James for such a wonderfully honest post. Yes, a white lie is still a lie and it is always, in the long run, to tell the truth.

To God, sin is sin, and we all need to confess them daily 1 John 1: Thank you for your question and for visiting us. What would you do then if in Nazi Germany a group of Nazis came to your door and asked if you have hidden any jews?

Would you lie to save them or tell the truth? Since the root cause of lying and actually all sin is pride as the Bible indicates, lying to save lives is trying to follow the higher, moral principle and that is the value of a human life.

There is nothing wrong with telling a lie to someone who wants to kill a human being because which is the greater immorality?

A lie to save others lives or the murder of innocent Jews? What do I do? We are all sinners and we are all guilty of sin yet Christ became sin for us, He who knew no sin that we might be the righteousness of God 2 Cor 5: Read that verse my friend.

Help For Struggling Christians. Each time, repent…before you do it, pray to God for strength. Fall to your knees and pray to God for help when you are getting tempted.

Read this article below for it goes into much deeper detail than I can here. Get an accountability partner.

Talk to your pastor. He can help you also. Dont be so hard on your self Daniel. If you will fast and pray, this spirit of oppression, will leave you.

God has given you desires for women, and that is great…If you will get on your knees before God and pray, he will answer your prayers. Once you ask for healing from lust, start thanking God that he has answered your prayers…Dont beat yourself up, we all deal with some temptation…God Bless, I speak healing over you Daniel , Fast and prayer…God Bless.

Would it help to see those women as if they were your own daughter? Would you want men lusting after your own child in such a way?

They are your daughters and sisters after all, if they are not your wife. And if it is pornography, just think how lost that woman is and how much she needs a savior.

How grieving and hurt she must really feel inside. What if she was your child? I am a woman, but I understand strongholds very well, and my heart goes out to you.

I know you are suffering but I know you can beat this! Get right back to praising God for his salvation and know that this is NOT the man he called you to be nor will you remain this man.
